If you're anything like me, you could easily spend hours perusing Whole Foods and admiring the new products. But also, if you're anything like me, you have neither the time to read every product description nor the grocery budget to purchase everything that catches your attention. That's where Food & Wine comes in. Every month, I try out Whole Foods' latest products, including their own 365 brand items and any other exciting releases, to see what items are actually worth your time and money.

There’s no place like Whole Foods for the holidays, and they’ve got plenty of treats to slide into stockings, gift to your loved ones, and add a little joy to just about anything. Read on to discover my picks for your shopping cart this month.

Gâteau Basque

Still going into the office right up until Christmas? Bring one of these in for your coworkers and make it a little more holly jolly. This gâteau is thin and tart-like — perfect as an afternoon treat — and has hints of almond and rum topped with an apricot glaze. It’s sweet without going overboard like a lot of holiday treats; plus it's easy to slice and share. It was such a huge hit with my coworkers that I only wished I’d gotten more so I could have leftovers to take home.

I’m a very indecisive person, and I hate having to choose between chocolate and cookies for dessert. Luckily, this white chocolate gingerbread bark gets me off the hook by combining both! The velvety chocolate paired with crunchy bites of gingerbread cookie is a winning combination and a great way to do gingerbread if you like the idea of it but are not so keen on more than a few bites. Give a bag of this bark to a friend and see just how much they love it.

Whole Foods Market Limited Edition Panettone

It’s panettone season, baby! And while I like an enormous panettone sitting on my counter like the rest of us, it does always leave me with a bit of anxiety as I wonder, Is it going to go stale? What’s the best way to save it for later? How much of this have I eaten in one sitting? Is it kind of gross that we’re all just tearing off hunks of this communal bread with all of these *waves hands around in the air* diseases going around? Luckily, Whole Foods has provided the answer to all of my panettone worries in one succinct, personal-sized version.

Light, fluffy, and full of those warming flavors and hints of orange you like in your classic panettone, this mini version has it all; plus, it’s so, so cute thanks to its tiny size. Buy one for everyone on your list and become known as the Panettone Purveyor, an excellent monicker if I do say so myself.

Whole Foods Market Dark Chocolate Marshmallows

In my opinion, winter is peak marshmallow season, considering all the marshmallow-laden hot chocolate we drink, so these chocolate-covered ones from Whole Foods are a welcome addition to the ‘mallow fold. The marshmallows live up to the idea of what they should be, they’ve got a good gourmet-marshmallow texture, a nice bit of chew without feeling rubbery or fake, and a thin chocolate shell that gives a satisfying crack when you bite into it. Available in both dark and milk chocolate, these are a great addition to any dessert table or even as a sweet option on a charcuterie board.

A little chocolate is always a good idea. Whether you’re looking for a stocking stuffer, a white elephant gift, or just a little treat for yourself, Whole Foods’ holiday truffles are an excellent option. Like any good truffle, these little guys are bite-sized, slowly melt away, and are truly decadent. This year the truffles come in classic chocolate, cappuccino, and chocolate orange peel — I tried the first two but am on the hunt for the chocolate orange version.

Malted Chocolate Bûche de Noël

In case, like me, you have left absolutely everything until the last minute but still need to contribute a dessert to a celebration, this bûche de Noël is a great option. Also known as a yule log state-side, this bûche de Noël stays true to the classic formula; it’s got a light chocolatey cream rolled up into a delicate melt-in-your-mouth sponge, which is then enveloped in a lovely chocolate frosting. Dotted with decorative chocolate drops, spheres, and batons, it looks as good as it tastes and is going to get a lot of “wows” from your crowd — especially if you throw away the box and pretend like you made it, we won’t tell.
