Chef Nancy Silverton reveals how to make the best croutons at home.
[MUSIC] I'm gonna start out the recipe by making some croutons. Now I always choose a crusty loaf of bread. And I cut it in half and rather than cutting it as most people do into, Perfect squares or cubes I like to actually pull the bread from the center of the loaf because when the bread toasts the irregular edges kind of get tinged and colored and its a much more appealing look. Drizzle it down with a little extra virgin olive oil sprinkle with a little kosher salt toss it together. I'm gonna spread them out on a baking sheet and toast them in a 325 degree oven until they're toasty and lightly brown. [BLANK_AUDIO] It's been about 25 minutes. I'm gonna check on my croutons to see if they're toasted. Yeah. They're golden brown. And I'm gonna set them aside to cool. [MUSIC]
