There’s a NYC Taxi Airbnb and We’re Kind of Grossed Out By It
Those looking for an affordable escape to the Big Apple can now rent an Airbnb for the amazing price of $39 a night! And oh, by the way, you'll be sleeping in a renovated cab on the street.
Stand-up comedian Jonathan Powley operates the Manhattan listing that he refers to as “64 square feet of black and yellow tranquility.” Parked in Long Island City with panoramic views of Manhattan, the "living space" features a full-sized bed, a unique experience and...well, that's pretty much it.
Powley does provide his guests with a guide for nearby bathroom, wifi and outlet recommendations, but don't expect the Plaza Hotel treatment (you can literally choose to poop in a portable toilet located in the passenger seat.)
Reviews on Airbnb are mixed, though most seem to have genuinely enjoyed their stay. These people either can't process a taxi's germ-infested history or they're on a really, really strict budget.
Whatever floats your boat, right? Or in this case, whatever nabs your cab. Just be sure to bring the Purell.
