This week, as record-setting low temperatures grip much of the country, Southerners might find themselves grappling with something they’re not equipped for: an ice-covered car.

Well, you’re in luck. No matter what kind of pinch you’re in— your trusty ice-scraper broke, or you’ve simply never had to contend with a frosty windshield—this easy-peasy DIY de-icing hack is for you. All you need is a little elbow grease and mama’s favorite kitchen item. That’s right, we’re talking Tupperware.

This affordable ice-scraping alternative comes courtesy of Reddit user castewar, who posted a video in r/lifehacks demonstrating his trick for scraping ice off his windshield using only a snack-size Tupperware container. In just five seconds, and with a few fluid “wax on, wax off” motions, he manages to remove the ice from his rear windshield.

“Skip that round ice-scraper advertising on Facebook, just rifle your Tupperware drawer,” he wrote in the post.

Now, it’s important to note that the ice this Reddit user is dealing with doesn’t look particularly thick or stubborn. But, if you find yourself dealing with an icy situation, a Tupperware container just might do the trick!
