These Are the Biggest Travel Trends of 2018, According to Pinterest
Wanderlust = sparked.
If you’re like us, you’re probably dreaming of your next beach vacation the moment you step off the plane from your last one.
And where do we go when we’ve got travel on the brain (aside from Coastal Living, of course)? Pinterest. With over 4 billion travel ideas, there’s a seemingly endless supply of inspiration to file away on your wanderlust wish list. And these five—currently trending according to the 2018 Pinterest Travel Report—have us packing our bags for the coast immediately.
While it might sound uncomfortable at first — Who will I talk to? Will I get bored? — traveling alone is just about as good for the mind as is booking a pricey wellness retreat. And Pinterest users are, apparently, all in on this one: Saves for solo travel ideas are up a staggering 593 percent (more than any other trend by far). If you’re unsure where to start, choose an activity you’ve always wanted to try and worry about the location later. Need some inspo? Many of our 22 Life-Changing Vacations are made for solo explorers (but they’re great with friends, too!).
Raise your hand if you’ve watched wave worshippers from the sand and thought "There’s no way I could ever do that.” (Yea, us too.) But perhaps 2018 is the year that changes. In the spirit of adventure (a travel theme in itself for 2018), head out on a board with an experienced instructor and get some pointers. Chances are you won’t be the only first timer, considering the fact that Pinners are searching for and saving “surf classes” (especially in exotic locales like Bali) 260 percent more than last year.
In our travel dreams, these are never not in style. But according to Pinterest, saves for vino-centered vacays are up almost 120 percent. So, the time to go tasting is now. The California coast is a classic (and must-see, in our opinion) spot for a wine-centric vacation, but certain parts of the East Coast and the Great Lakes are also prime for imbibing. Check out 7 of our fave coastal wine vacations here.

Hands-On Foodie Experiences
Eating is—and will always be—one of the greatest joys of vacation (and only partially because your diet also happens to be on a vacation). But rather than simply snagging a table at the latest and greatest restaurants, travelers are now looking to learn from the local pros. Cooking classes remain a popular vacation activity, but in addition to that, food photography workshops are also on the rise (saves are up 207 percent). Hey, we all gotta do it for the ‘Gram, right? Check out eight great culinary getaways to book this year.
