This is some 2000s nostalgia we can get behind.

At this point, it feels like Oreo has done just about everything. They've brought myriad flavors to supermarket shelves, metamorphosed into baking mixes, and even taken over the gift market with dunking sets. Once a brand has fulfilled its creative capability, there's only one place left to go — nostalgia. Nabisco has done exactly that by reviving a late-aughts treat: Oreo Cakesters.

The soft snack cakes filled with that trademark Oreo creme will return to stores next year after a decade off the market. Oreo Cakesters first came about in 2007, back when George Bush was still in office. In addition to the return of classic Cakesters, Nabisco is also releasing a Nutter Butter variety — oh, and both the Oreo and Nutter Butter Cakesters will be permanently added to Nabisco's cookie lineup.

Cakesters will return in early 2022, and hopefully sooner than later. If you're the kind of person who likes to follow snack brands on social media, stay tuned to Oreo's accounts for additional updates and a chance to win a Cakesters sample. It sure beats trying to find an old one for sale in the deepest corners of the internet.
