Everything You Need To Know About Pippa Middleton’s $320K Wedding
The dress, the date, the venue, and what Prince George and Princess Charlotte will be doing there.
In case you have been living under a rock, Pippa Middleton is set to wed hedge fund manager, James Matthews, on May 20. Here’s everything you need to know about her upcoming nuptials…
The Price Tag Is 15 Times The Cost of An Average Wedding:
Let's get down to the information we all want to know: just how much it is wedding costing? According to wedding planning app, Bridebook, the wedding is costing a ‘modest’ £246,949. The marquee for the reception, which will be hosted at the Middelton’s family home, is expected to cost £65k alone. With 350 guests, the catering is expected to come in at £70k as well.
The Wedding Dress:
Despite being spotted shopping with her mother, Carole Middleton, at Suzanne Neville (who is the go-to designer for Tess Daly’s Strictly outfits nonetheless) in Knightsbridge, couturier Giles Deacon is rumoured to be the designer of Pippa’s bespoke wedding dress. The designer previously designed Abby Clancy’s wedding dress for a cool £10k. Milliner Stephen Jones is also rumoured to be stepping in to create a custommade veil for the bride, which obviously doesn’t come cheap either, with a bill of £2k. No wonder the bill is racking up, let’s hope that Party Planning book of hers is still getting some sales!
The Wedding Location:
The nuptials are taking place at St. Mark’s Church close to the Middleton home in Englefield, Berkshire. Quaint and cute!
The 40-year-old hedge fund manager is the chief executive of Eden Rock Capital Management group - named after his parents’ lavish Caribbean resort. Casual. The couple enjoy skiing, having competed together in the Birkebeiner ski race in Norway, finishing the race in six hours. His father, David Matthews, is a former mechanic, would you believe? But it's James’ brother, Spencer Matthews, who gets the most column inches…
Spencer From Made In Chelsea Is The Best Man:
Who would have thought that the royal family could ever be connected to none other than Chelsea love rat Spencer Matthews? But, his latest girlfriend, the model Vogue Williams, will not be in attendance.
Luxury florists Lavender Green are set to provide the flowers for the big day. With around 35 tables to decorate and the small matter of the bridal bouquet the flowers alone are expected to cost £16k.
The Royal Kids:
Princess Charlotte, who recently turned two, will be the flower girl and Prince George will adopt the role of pageboy at the wedding, following an announcement made by Kensington Palace. Nicki Macfarlene, who designed the flower girls outfits for Kate and Will’s wedding, is likely to step up to the plate again, with a page boy outfit fetching you back £226 and a flower girl’s dress priced at £340, it will certainly be fit for a future king!
Prince Harry’s Plus One:
Prince Harry will be bringing Meghan Markle as his plus one. Despite rumours swirling that there was strictly a ‘no ring, no bring,’ policy at the wedding, the unmarried couple have been given the seal of approval. The couple of the moment made their wedding debut in March when Meghan joined Harry at his best friend from Eton, Tom ‘Skippy’ Inskip’s wedding. Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge waited two years into their relationship to attend a wedding together so things seem to be hotting up with the 35-year-old ‘Suits’ actress following their PDA at the Polo this weekend.
Kate Middleton Is Taking A Back Seat:
The Duchess of Cambridge apparently turned down the chance to be Pippa’s Maid of Honour in a bid to ensure her little sister remains the centre of attention. According to sources our future queen has agreed to look after all the children. Mary Poppins eat your heart out!
The Wedding Snaps:
Pippa has reportedly turned down mega magazine deals to cover her wedding, instead, the photographs are not expected to become public. If if the rumours are true, though, Millie Pilkington, the private wedding photographer for William and Kate, will be snapping away on the day.
The Hen Do:
Being the Sporty Spice she is Pippa took her hens to an exclusive ski lodge in Meribel, France, for her hen do with the Duchess of Cambridge in attendance. We wonder if they had Willy straws?
Whatever wedding ring the couple choose it will take a lot to live up to the sparkling heights of Pippa Middelton’s engagement ring. James popped the question with a Robinson Pelham 3.5 carat D colour Flawless diamond ring that is estimated to be worth £275k and exceeds the wedding budget itself. Hope she’s got insurance!
The Guest Garb:
Rumours are circulating that the wedding guests have been informed that they must change between the wedding and the reception. Better get shopping then if you want to attend this high society wedding, ladies.
Crucially though, will her bum take centre stage? Time will tell.
