Pour boiling water over tea bags, and press bags against side of teapot using a spoon until tea water is coffee colored. Let steep, uncovered, 10 minutes. Remove and discard tea bags. Stir cognac into brewed tea. Refrigerate until chilled and flavors meld, about 3 hours. Serve over spherical ice cubes in teacups. Tea may be stored, covered, in refrigerator up to 3 days.
