Paris Between the Wars


With rich smokiness from the blended Scotch, rounded bitterness from Campari, and a tart bite from fresh lemon juice, this cocktail is well-balanced and refreshing.

  • 1 1/2 tablespoons (3/4 ounce) Campari

  • 1 1/2 tablespoons (3/4 ounce) blended Scotch whisky (such as Dewar's)

  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice

  • 1 tablespoon simple syrup

  • 1/2 cup ice cubes

  • 2 tablespoons (1 ounce) dry sparkling wine, such as brut Cava

  • Lemon peel strip, for garnish


  1. Combine Campari, Scotch, lemon juice, simple syrup, and ice in a cocktail shaker. Cover and shake vigorously until well chilled; strain into a cocktail glass. Top with sparkling wine, and garnish with lemon peel strip.
