So I'm vegan but my three sons asked if I would make them a turkey for Thanksgiving a few years ago. I'm not a chef but I can follow a good recipe and I have to tell you that ever since I made this Moroccan-Spiced Turkey by Chef Marcus Samulesson, I'm like a Chef with a capital C now, lol! My family including my mom who loved the traditional turkey now ONLY WANTS this Moroccan-Spiced Turkey! They say the flavors and the garlic citrus-spice mixture is simply amazing!
A ton of work. But, in the end it all pretty much just tasted like cooked turkey. The citrus notes was not very pronounced, and the special spices, which cost $10/jar, really didn't add much either.
Don't get me wrong. It was cooked fine. But, for having to juice all the citrus and then continuously baste the bird every 30 minutes, I'll pass on it for the next time.
