One theory suggests this drink was named after (and even invented by) Bald Jack Rose, a notorious New York City hit man in the early 20th century. Another theory says the name refers to the applejack (a type of apple brandy) in the recipe and the rose color created by the grenadine.

2 ounces bonded apple brandy
3/4 ounce fresh lemon juice
3/4 ounce grenadine, preferably homemade
How to Make It
In a cocktail shaker, combine the brandy, lemon juice and grenadine. Fill the shaker with ice and shake well. Strain into a chilled coupe.
