  • Place whiskey, lemon juice, and Honey Syrup in a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Place lid on shaker; shake vigorously, and strain into a tall glass filled with ice. Top with ginger beer, and stir briefly. Garnish with a basil sprig tapped lightly against the hand first to release its essential oils.

Note

Honey Syrup (makes 4 ounces): Stir together 1/4 cup honey and 1/4 cup near-boiling water in a small heatproof bowl or glass until dissolved. Let cool to room temperature before using.
