I tried out this recipe with only adding a pinch of cayenne like Alissa suggested, and it wasn't too spicy anymore, but still waaaaaaay too salty. I would dial down both the amount of salt and cayenne pepper in this recipe and add more fresh chives instead.
So incredibly spicy. I would dial down the cayenne to a pinch. I thought 1/2 tsp sounded outrageous when reading the recipe, but figured someone at Food & Wine would have tested it before posting.
