Everyone uses box pudding mix, that's not what this recipe is about. It's the use of heavy cream to make it luscious and the layering of the bananas and the cookies which both take this over the top. Bring out a big trifle dish of this after dinner and tell me that your family won't go crazy over it like mine did. It's a keeper!
This is a very old recipe, originally published (so far as I know) by the Borden sweetened condensed milk team. I got it off a can decades ago. You would think a “best new chef” could do better than boxed pudding. Seriously.
