Pringles Have Joined the Chicken Sandwich Wars with a Little Help from Wendy's
For two years now, chicken sandwiches have been one of the hottest stories in the fast food industry. These so-called Chicken Sandwich Wars began in the summer of 2019 when Popeyes released its sellout sensation and has continued to this week when Burger King announced they'd be bringing their competing sandwich nationwide next month.
Now, that chicken sandwich excitement is even infiltrating the world of snacks. Pringles has announced they're releasing a limited-edition potato chip based on Wendy's Spicy Chicken Sandwich.
Billed as "a snack that allows you to enjoy the magic of Wendy's Spicy Chicken in a single Pringles crisp that fits just between your fingers," these limited time only Pringles Wendy's Spicy Chicken chips are set to arrive in the brand's signature tubes nationwide stating next month. The exact method by which you pack an entire chicken sandwich into a single chip is not disclosed; however, Pringles does boast in the announcement, "Replicating this unique, fiery spice blend was a task suited only for the flavor innovators at Pringles."
And as Pringles reminds us, this isn't their first rodeo: They worked with Wendy's on a burger-inspired chip around this time last year. "Our partnership with Wendy's is a match made in flavor-heaven, so we're thrilled to have another collab with an equally talked about, fan-favorite menu item," Gareth Maguire, senior director of marketing for Pringles, stated. "Following the enthusiasm for Pringles Baconator, we knew we had to challenge ourselves and perfectly capture the flavor of another popular menu item."
But what if these chips don't fulfill your craving for a full sandwich? Don't worry: Pringles and Wendy's have that covered as well: Each can also arrives with a code that can be used for a free Wendy's Spicy Chicken Sandwich through the Wendy's app. So as far as calculated risks are concerned, if you like Wendy's Spicy Chicken Sandwich, it seems like Pringles has got you covered one way or another. Think of it as a "get out of disappointment free" card.
