Food & Wine's Editorial Guidelines Published on February 20, 2020 Share Tweet Pin Email When Disney+, Disney’s new streaming service, teased some of its lineup last spring, there were plenty of shows to get excited about. The spread included The World According to Jeff Goldblum and Forky Asks a Question (featuring the Toy Story 4 character), which have both since premiered; we were also promised Be Our Chef, a forthcoming cooking competition with a Disney twist. At the time, we knew The Office’s Angela Kinsey had signed on as the host, and had an idea of the general premise. This week, Disney+ released the official trailer, and the show looks just as fun as we imagined it would be. The trailer starts off panning around the kitchen where Be Our Chef takes place (naturally, there are plenty of Mickey motifs). Kinsey then explains that the show is a cooking competition that "challenges five food-loving families to create delicious dishes all inspired by our favorite Disney characters.” Said characters include Olaf, the beloved snowman from Frozen, and Queen Elsa; Baymax from Big Hero 6; and Cinderella herself, who all appear in the trailer. We’re hoping a character from Beauty and the Beast ends up making a cameo, too—after all, the show’s name is a play on the movie’s iconic “Be Our Guest” song, so it would be fitting. Image Group LA/Getty Images In each episode, two families will compete and have their dishes judged by one of Disney’s “legendary chefs.” Of course, no cooking competition show is complete without drama, and the trailer hints at plenty of it. Cookies meld together in the oven; what appears to be a paper towel is on fire on the kitchen floor. “This could go very wrong very fast,” one contestant says nervously in a voiceover. But it’s all in the name of winning a pretty cool prize—the chance to have your dish served at Disney World as a signature menu item. The show will officially premiere on March 27—if you don’t already have a subscription to Disney+, month-by-month subscriptions are $6.99 per month and a yearly subscription is $69.99.
