Week Two of “Top Chef” keeps the chefs in Denver but tests their teamwork and menu building, and challenges them to work with a mystery ingredient.
The fifteenth season of Top Chef continues with a tried and true fan favorite quickfire and an elimination challenge that forces the chefs to team up. In week two we get to know some of the chefs a little better—Bruce, Tyler and Joe Flamm’s bromance blossoms as the roommates (accurately) dub themselves “the bears.”
A tense, two-part quickfire pits the chefs against each other for a couple special prizes beyond immunity. Speed, technique, and strategy are key to moving onto the second part of the quickfire where chefs are challenged to think on their feet and build flavor under intense time pressure.
The dynamics from the quickfire set the stage for the first team elimination challenge this season. As things heat up in the kitchen, tension rises among some of the chefs working with lamb. Tom gets his hands dirty correcting one of the cheftestants' techniques, causing anxiety among his team. It all comes down to the wire as the chefs face off in a battle to honor some of Denver’s freshest ingredients while creating innovative dishes to impress some of Colorado’s finest suppliers and chefs.
To catch up on all the action, check out our recap of the season premiere, as well as the Top Chef judges first ever Quickfire challenge in which Padma, Tom, Gail, and Graham all donned aprons to go head-to-head in a team battle for charity judged by Marcel and Antonia. And we won't spoil anything here, but you can also read our interview with the first chef eliminated from season 15 and what they think their chances are in Last Chance Kitchen.
