Cranberry Juice Drinking Star of Viral 'Dreams' TikTok Gets New Truck from Ocean Spray

Nathan Apodaca is living his best cran-raspberry life.

There hasn't been a lot of what you'd call "feel-good news" this year. Just typing those words feels like trying to flex a muscle that has clearly atrophied from being under-used. But one of the undeniable (and long overdue) bright spots of the past few months is Nathan Apodaca—aka @420doggface208—the newly minted social media star who went viral after he posted a TikTok of himself casually riding his longboard, chugging Ocean Spray Cran-Raspberry juice, and singing along with Fleetwood Mac's "Dreams."

He shared the video literally two minutes before he had to clock in for his job at an Idaho potato processing plant, and it's not an exaggeration to say that everything has changed for him since then. For starters, his original TikTok has been watched more than 26 million times (I honestly think I contributed, like, 50,000 of those views) and Fleetwood Mac co-founder Mick Fleetwood grabbed his own longboard and bottle of Ocean Spray and recreated Apodaca's clip. He's even been credited with sending "Dreams" to the No. 1 spot on the iTunes songs chart.

The reason that Apodaca even filmed the video is because his ailing Dodge Durango had broken down at a gas station and he didn't have time before his shift to get a jump-start. "I turned around, grabbed my board, because I always have my board, grabbed my juice I had with me and I just started going," he told the Post Register. (He also admitted that he almost deleted the video without posting it because he worried that he was skating too slow.)

He might not have to rely on that truck anymore, not after Ocean Spray and Idaho Falls car dealer Ron Sayer Nissan teamed up to give Apodaca a brand new 2020 Nissan Titan PRO-4X truck. "When we saw Nathan Apodaca's video and the joy it created, we knew we needed to celebrate him and the happiness he spurred," Ocean Spray chief exec Tom Hayes said in a statement. "Yesterday Ocean Spray was humbled to gift Nathan with something of importance to him—a truck we knew he needed."

"I was given an awesome surprise yesterday—a brand new set of wheels from Ocean Spray!" Apodaca said. "It's been a wild ride for sure, and I feel humbled to be putting out these good vibes for everyone right now."

Those good vibes have come back to Apodaca too. He has been living in an RV trailer in front of his brother's house for the past few months. Because he doesn't have running water, he has to walk across the yard and go into his brother's place every time he needs to turn on a faucet or use the bathroom. He told the Post Register that his phone was disconnected this year because he couldn't afford to pay the bill. But, in addition to now having reliable transportation, he's also received $10,000 in donations to help him upgrade his living space, so he'll have his own shower, sink, and toilet facilities.

He's also taken a leave of absence from Circle Valley Produce. He worked there for more than a decade before starting a seven-year stint with firefighting crews and returned to the potato processor earlier this year.

"It's just weird and crazy to me because I feel normal still," he said. "But I feel a little more comfortable now because I just don't have to wake up and just worry. Everything seems like it's coming in line now. It's a blessing, no doubt."
