From now through the end of October, two Colombian properties — the Sofitel Legend Santa Clara and the Sofitel Barú Calablanca Beach Resort — are teaming up to give food-loving travelers a taste of what the South American nation has to offer with its "Caribbean flavors" package.

"The new four-day itinerary shines a bright light on Colombia's coastal cuisine and flavors, pairing a stay at Cartagena's iconic Sofitel Legend Santa Clara with two nights at the new Sofitel Barú Calablanca Beach Resort on Isla Barú," Nicolas Pesty, general manager of Sofitel Legend Santa Clara shared with Food & Wine.

The trip begins with a few nights at the Sofitel Legend Santa Clara, housed in a former convent built in 1621 that subsequently became a charity hospital, prison, and medical school before transforming into the iconic hotel in 1995.

In Cartagena, guests will go on what Pesty calls a "culinary exploration," diving into the city's global and Caribbean influences with a multi-course dinner in the hotel's historic 1621 Restaurant, a 400-year-old dining room that recently underwent a revamp, along with a cocktail-making class to learn how to make the "Elixirs and potions" available at the hotel's new Botika Bar. Guests will also get the chance to take part in a Colombian rum and chocolate tasting to ensure they've seen it all.

"While the culinary options are certainly all incredible, it must be mentioned that it's the full scope of the senses that makes Cartagena so magical — from the colors to the music, the people, and the climate," Pesty adds.

Next, guests will head out on a 50-minute catamaran transfer to Barú, a far more modern but equally alluring accommodation that sets its sights squarely on its natural surroundings, creating an ideal two-for-one getaway unlike any other.

At Barú, guests who booked the package can expect dinner in Humo, a dinner-only robata concept. On the island, they'll also get to take part in a Colombian coffee tasting, a local cocktail-making class in Pergola, and a cooking class with the hotel's own Chef Patrice Guaus. The package includes all of the activities above, as well as two nights at Sofitel Legend Santa Clara in a superior room single or double room and two nights at the Sofitel Barú Calablanca Beach Resort in a superior room single or double. It begins at $2,480. Find more about the offer and booking instructions at sofitelbarucalablanca.com.
