Coffee Consumption Helps Lower Risk of Early Death

If there’s one thing that millennials have undeniably contributed to our current pop culture moment (outside of the supposed popularity of avocado toast, of course) it is the selfie—the ultimate expression of vanity, or self-empowerment, depending on whom you ask. Whether you love the selfie or hate it, though, it exists, and it is popular, and it can now be on your coffee.

The “selfieccino”—as the Evening Standard reports—is the creation of the London tea shop Tea Terrace. For a total of $7.50, you—obsessed with your own face to the point that you want to literally drink an image of it—can have a picture of yourself printed directly onto the drink’s foam.

The drink is made with a device called the Cino. All you have to do is send a picture of yourself to the café’s app, which in turns sends the picture to the machine. Your likeness is then printed onto the foam using flavorless food coloring.

Is this new innovation in coffee foam art ridiculous? Yes. But we’re not here to judge anyone. It’s fun, it’s silly, and it doesn’t hurt anyone (although it might put a significant dent in your wallet if you make a habit out of buying it).

The selfieccino is proving to be popular, too: Since it’s launch over the weekend, more than 400 have already been sold (according to Grub Street). To be fair, it does sound irresistible to take a selfie of yourself drinking the selfieccino and post it to your Instagram. It shouldn’t be too long until coffee shops in America pick up on the trend, so if you’re eager to see what you would look like if you were made of coffee foam, you probably don’t have too much longer to wait.

Once you get your hands on the personalized coffee, just try to not get too enraptured by the artwork of your face—you might forget to actually enjoy your drink. Oh yes, in case you had forgotten, the actual purpose of a cup of coffee is to drink it.
