Candy lovers need to check the labels of some products from popular brands. On Friday, Mars Wrigley issued a voluntary recall of gummies released under the Skittles, Starburst, and Life Savers brand names due to the potential presence of metal fragments.

Importantly, none of the recalled items are traditional Skittles, Starbursts, or Life Savers candies. Instead, they are specific packages of the "Gummies" variety of these products. Mars Wrigley explains that these items "were manufactured by a third party and distributed in the United States, Canada, and Mexico" and that they could contain "a very thin metal strand embedded in the gummies or loose in the bag" based on consumer reports. The company says so far no illnesses have been reported.

For specific UPC and manufacturer codes, as well as images, identifying the products, head to the official FDA recall announcement page.

Mars Wrigley says anyone who has purchased a recalled item should dispose of it. The company also says they "will work with retailers to remove recalled products from store shelves." No information is provided about receiving a refund on the recalled items; however, Mars Wrigley says anyone with questions can contact the company.
