Outback Steakhouse's New Appetizer May Single-Handledly Ruin Diets Everywhere
Even in the era of healthier dining choices, there’s some undeniable chain restaurants classics – and Outback Steakhouse’s Bloomin’ Onion is one of them.
The iconic heaping platter of battered and deep-fried onions is a calorie bomb. Now, Outback has just taken this favorite to the next level with the Loaded Bloomin’ Onion: the traditional dish topped with Loaded Aussie Cheese Fries. This unnecessary marriage of cheese fries and onion rings is covered with a mixture of Monterey Jack and Cheddar Cheese and bacon. To top it off, the dish will be accompanied with both traditional Outback bloom sauce and spicy ranch dressing.
The Daily Meal reports that this super-charged onion will weigh in at 2,360 calories. That’s about as much as you’d get in four Big Macs – but don’t worry, like the original Bloomin’ Onion, this (and the calories it contains) is shareable.
It’s a diet buster in its purest form with mixed enthusiasm from the FWx office. Luckily for the nation's obesity rate, the cholesterol bomb is only available for a limited time during the chain’s Big Australia promotion, from June 21 through August 2.
