Oscar Mayer Dropped a Streetwear Collection That Can Only Be Bought at Hot Dog Carts
For generations, Oscar Mayer has been encouraging people to wish they were an Oscar Mayer wiener. In 2021, you still can't be a hot dog, but at least you can be as stylish as one. The iconic brand has just released its first streetwear line.
Fittingly called "Street Meat," Oscar Mayer's new 13-piece capsule collection is billed as a "meat-inspired take on the gotta-cop-it streetwear trends of today," featuring items like bucket hats, slides, track suits, bomber jackets, and more. And the brand says they didn't have to look far for inspiration for these pieces: The items double as the uniform for Oscar Mayer's Hotdoggers, the annually-selected drivers of the Wienermobile. All the items feature a mix of Oscar Mayers iconic colors: bright reds, oranges, and yellows along with a mix of stripes, patterns, and the brand logo.
"Oscar Mayer has a legacy of sparking smiles and bringing levity to things that have gotten too serious, and streetwear is a ripe territory to playfully subvert," Megan Lang, the brand's associate marketing director, stated. "The ethos of streetwear is hyper-serious and hyper-exclusive, so we hope fans embrace the Oscar Mayer version of Meatwear and have a little more fun getting dressed this fall."
In an effort to take their hot-doggy spin on the trend even further, Oscar Mayer has decided to skip the usual online shop and instead will be offering these limited-edition items at hot dog carts in Los Angeles, Atlanta, and New York. Specifically, we've been tipped off to the following locations: Today, the Street Meat hot dog cart will be at 7315 Melrose Ave. in Los Angeles; tomorrow, it will be at 1380 Atlantic Drive in Atlanta, and on Friday, find it at 185 Bedford Ave in Brooklyn.
Additionally, the Wienermobile will be hosting pop-up shops across the country throughout October. The brand says you can find out the specific locations by following the brand on Twitter at @OscarMayer.
