Mtn Dew Releases New Purple Flavor — But You Can Only Find It at One Convenience Store Chain

Mtn Dew Purple Thunder is a mix of blackberry and plum flavors.

Circle K may not get the regional love of convenience stores like Wawa and Sheetz, but don't tell this national chain it has nothing to hang its hat on: For the first time ever, Circle K has scored its own exclusive Mtn Dew flavor.

Arriving today, Mtn Dew Purple Thunder is described as combining "the mouth-watering flavors of blackberry and plum for the ultimate berry combination." Wait, is a plum even a berry? These are the kinds of questions you're meant to ponder while sipping a Mtn Dew in a Circle K parking lot, so consider it a win-win!

Mtn Dew Purple Thunder will be sold as both a fountain soda and in 20-ounce bottles. But diehard Dew-heads will want to go for the bottle option just for the label. The two brands explain that the artwork features "its own biker gang of Dew characters — including a plum and blackberry enjoying the sweetest ride of their life."

"We are thrilled to offer Mtn Dew Purple Thunder as an exclusive flavor at Circle K," Kevin Lewis, chief marketing officer for Circle K's parent company Alimentation Couche-Tard, said in a statement. "Everything from the berry flavor to the design was specially created by Mtn Dew and Circle K to provide a unique beverage that is sure to bring a new level of fun and flavor to our customers."

"Mtn Dew is on a continuous mission to create the best flavors with the best partners, and we know Dew Nation is going to love the delicious flavor twist of blackberry and plum that Purple Thunder brings to our roster," Pat O'Toole, Mtn Dew's chief marketing officer, stated. "And, there is no better partner than Circle K to bring this awesome flavor to life."

Need more proof that Circle K is your ultimate Dew destination? Well, the chain also points out that they have their own Circle K's Sip & Save program which allows repeat customers to grab a fountain soda beverage like Mtn Dew every day for only $5.99 per month. Is that too much Dew? I don't know. Can a soda label have too many awesome biker gang Dew characters? Again, good things to ponder at the Circle K.
