The concept will expand to more cities “in the coming years.”
Ironically enough, the worst part of watching cooking shows is also their most climatic: The moment all the hard work is done and someone goes in for that all-important first taste. Sure, as cheesy as it feels, most people do a solid job of selling it. “Mmmmm. Oh this is delicious.” But as a viewer, the envy always stings. So fans of the globally-popular show MasterChef will love this idea: A “world-first” dining concept is slated to open later this year in Dubai called “MasterChef the TV Experience.”
According to The First Group – an international hotel and property development company which announced the forthcoming restaurant today – MasterChef the TV Experience promises to “fully immerse guests” in the show: “Featuring an interior design concept inspired by the MasterChef TV set itself, diners will be able to choose from a dynamic menu featuring popular original dishes conceived and inspired by series contestants and champions,” the announcement states. So no, it doesn’t sound like chefs will literally be battling it out in front of your table like some sort of competitive Benihana. Still, if you’re just trying to grab a meal, that’s probably for the best.
Frances Adams, the Director of Brand Strategy for Endemol Shine Group, the company that produces and distributes MasterChef, which has been adapted for 52 different countries, spoke to the appeal she expects this idea to have. “MasterChef has a global fan base who are keen to engage with the brand in new ways and our extensive range of successful products and experiences are testament to its worldwide appeal,” she said in a statement. “MasterChef the TV Experience is an exciting opportunity for audiences in this market to enjoy a unique and immersive dining experience that will truly reflect the values, quality and integrity associated with MasterChef.”
This first MasterChef the TV Experience restaurant is slated to open with the launch of the Wyndham West Bay Dubai Marina Hotel in the second half of this year; however, The First Group says it already has plans to bring the concept to other cities around the world “in the coming years.”
