The TV host and entertaining expert will be a judge the upcoming season, premiering June 5.
If you've been missing your regular dose of Martha Stewart lately, Food Network may have you covered. In parent company Discovery, Inc.'s upfronts to advertisers yesterday, the cooking-centric channel's upcoming slate of new and returning programs was revealed with Martha Stewart's name popping up in conjunction with one of Food Network's biggest hits, fast-paced quickfire cooking competition Chopped. Stewart will join the upcoming season as a judge, meaning you'll get to see her on the weekly show and, given how often the network airs Chopped reruns, a whole lot thereafter.
Stewart be “guest-judging” on the upcoming season (including the premiere episode) and will join the pantheon of regular Chopped judges—Maneet Chauhan, Scott Conant, Amanda Freitag, Alex Guarnaschelli, Marc Murphy, Marcus Samuelsson, Chris Santos and Geoffrey Zakarian—the network said in a statement. No doubt, Stewart will bring her signature warmth, wit, and charm to Chopped, no matter how many episodes she’s in.
According to a previous statement from Discovery Networks, "the returning iconic competition series ups the ante this year, when the one-and-only Martha Stewart joins the cast as a judge, bringing her food expertise, impeccable credentials and discerning critique to the judges’ table." The new season of Chopped is set to begin airing on June 5.
Stewart has already entered the Chopped universe before, however. On the kid-centric edition of the program, Chopped Junior, Stewart stopped by in two episodes back in 2015, one for Thanksgiving and another that was Christmas-themed.
Of course, since Martha Stewart Living and Martha have left the airwaves, Stewart has still been lighting up our TV screens with Martha Bakes and Martha Stewart's Cooking School on PBS, numerous appearances on talk shows and an unlikely collaboration with hip-hop icon Snoop Dogg: Martha and Snoop’s Potluck Dinner Party.
Speaking of new additions to classic Food Network shows, Iron Chef America finally returns in May and joining Chairman Mark Dacascos and host Alton Brown will be Cutthroat Kitchen regular Jet Tila.
Update April 23, 2018: This post has been edited to include a premiere date and the current cast of judges based on a new statement from Food Network.
