Making candy canes is easy, right? There are elves who handle it or whatever.

Wrong. As the Science Channel proves in a recent YouTube video, making candy canes actually involves a multi-step process with a surprising amount of human intervention along the way. Granted, the whole procedure is still highly automated, but next time you snack on a candy cane, keep in mind that two dudes with mustaches had to lift a 100-pound block of candy into a batch roller for you to be sucking on that peppermint treat. Don’t worry though. They were wearing gloves. At least in the video.

As for elves, they’re obviously way too busy working in Santa’s workshop to make candy canes. Wait, what do you mean you have something you’d like to tell me about Santa?
