'Krispy Skreme' Celebrates Halloween with Black Cat, Cauldron, and Broomstick Doughnuts

No, that's not a Krispy Kreme knockoff: The brand even changed their logo for October.

Krispy Kreme is no stranger to promotions: In fact, from LTOs to freebies, it's kind of their thing. Halloween is no exception and the holiday has inspired everything from slime-filled doughnuts and candy-topped doughnuts to free doughnut giveaways. This year is no exception and Krispy Kreme is going all-in with four new limited-time-only doughnuts, a $1 dozen deal, a free doughnut deal… and if that isn't enough, they've also temporarily changed their name.

Replete with an altered orange and green logo, Krispy Skreme — as the chain will be known for the rest of the month — jokes that the change is courtesy of a witch's spell, but Chief Marketing Officer Dave Skena simply stated, "We all deserve an incredibly great Halloween this year," a sentiment that, after last year, rings true.

On the doughnut front, Krispy Skreme is rolling out four new Halloween-themed items at participating locations. The Abra Cat Dabra Doughnut is billed as "an Original Glazed doughnut dipped in chocolate icing and black sanding sugar, decorated like a cat with icing and sugar fondant eyes." The Enchanted Cauldron Doughnut is a Glazed Chocolate Cake doughnut "topped with Kreme and decorated like a cauldron with sprinkles and a pretzel witch's 'broomstick.'" The Bewitched Broomstick Doughnut is "an unglazed shell doughnut, dipped in purple icing, decorated with an icing swirl and gold stars, and finished with green buttercream and a pretzel stick 'broomstick.'"

And then, for doughnut fans who like to keep their LTOs simple, the Spooky Sprinkle Doughnut is an Original Glazed doughnut dipped in orange icing and topped with a Halloween sprinkle blend. (Don't yawn; it's rude — and the witch will get you.)

If you like the sound of all four, Krispy Skreme (yes, I am sticking with it!) will be selling them as a mixed dozen in a limited-edition Spellbook box to add some additional Halloween flare. And if you buy any dozen on a Saturday for the rest of October, you'll receive a second "Saturday Scary Sharies" dozen for just $1 while supplies last.

Finally, as the brand has in the past, trick-or-treaters who come into Krispy Kreme on October 31 won't leave empty-handed. "Help us have fun too by coming by on Halloween in costume and we'll give you a free doughnut!" Skena added. Just don't accidentally walk past the shop: They changed their name, remember?!
