KFC UK's 'Gravy Burger' Is Topped With a Hash Brown Gravy Boat

It seems like we've written some variation on the phrase "when will we get some good news" approximately ten million times this year, but it's still a valid question—unless you're in the United Kingdom and Ireland, where your gravy-soaked good news landed on Monday.

KFC UK is rolling out some limited-edition items as part of its year-end Festive Menu, and the first one is an absolute cracker. The chain's new Gravy Burger is exactly what it sounds like: a sandwich made with a cheese-covered Original Recipe chicken fillet, topped with a layer of "gravynnaise" (yeah, it's gravy and mayo) AND a hash brown that doubles as a gravy boat.

"An unsurpassed triumph of hash brown virtuosity, it features a special well that’s expertly designed to hold gravy. And plenty of it," KFC writes of its burger topper. "With structurally certified walls to hold even the most generous helping, we’ve also gone ahead and developed an all-new mini gravy pouring pot, so you can really let it flow."

The sandwich is available on its own, or as part of a Gravy Burger Box Meal, which includes the sandwich, extra gravy, an Original Recipe mini-fillet, a side item, extra Gravynnaise, and a drink. All of that, for just £6.99 ($9.24)

According to the Express, KFC has also added some limited-edition Gravy Double Buckets, which come with six-pieces of Original Recipe chicken, an order of popcorn chicken, four bags of French fries, four sides of gravy, and a drink. There's also a Gravy Triple Bucket, which comes with all of that, plus eight hot wings and six mini-fillets.

The chain, which has over 900 locations scattered throughout the UK, is also serving a Viennetta version of its Krushem milkshake—another menu item that we don't have in the U.S. This sort-of McFlurry-ish treat will feature pieces of Viennetta, the "spectacular ice cream dessert" that is a total throwback for 90s kids.

Last year's seasonal menu involved a Festive Burger, which was an Original Recipe fillet topped with a hash brown, sage-and-onion stuffing-flavored mayonnaise, cranberry sauce, and cheese. It also had Festive Fries, which involved toasted onions and pepper, garlic, and herb seasoning, and a mint chocolate Krushem, that was decorated with a "glittery chocolate bowtie."

KFC has promised to reveal some other additions to the 2020 Festive Menu this week, which will only increase our feelings of FOMO—or FOMG (the Fear of Missing Gravy. The full range will be available through Sunday, January 3.
