Four-cheese pizza pales in comparison.
The longest pizza has already been baked (it happened in Los Angles and it was 7,000 feet long). A town in Michigan claims to have made the world’s largest delivery pizza. But what about the cheesiest pizza? As far as the Guinness World Records is concerned that exists now, too.
The pizza—crafted by an American pizza chef at the Berlin restaurant Vadoli Pizzeria—is topped with 288.6 grams of cheese. It took home the record for the “greatest variety of cheese on a pizza.”
The chef used 111 different types of cheese on the pizza, which he didn’t even expand to hold that vast collection of melted dairy, but rather kept the size of a regular pie. Given the pizza's small size, the chef carefully measured out the same amount of each cheese to include on the pizza—exactly 2.6 grams. According to the Guinness World Records, he included “mozzarella, Emmental, Leicestershire red, Comté and Raclette de Chèvre,” among other varieties, on the pizza.
The cheese-packed pizza was then served at an event later in the evening, where one guest commented that “each piece tastes different.”
A pizza with 111 different types of cheese on it isn’t nearly the strangest world record that’s been set in the past year. Last summer, a driverless truck carrying a stock of Budweiser drove 132 miles, the “longest continuous journey by a driverless and autonomous semitrailer truck.”
Perhaps even more unexpected is the celebrity who is obsessed with breaking Guinness World Records: None other than Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. He’s broken a total five in his career, including one back in December, when his company (acting on his behalf) toppled a total of 3,006 cereal boxes.
No, food isn’t just for eating. It’s also for breaking ridiculous, arbitrary records, apparently. At least people got to eat the pizza after the Guinness World Records judge gave it her seal of approval.
