News Frosted Grape Pop-Tarts Are Coming Back to Feed Your '90s Nostalgia And this time around, the previously discontinued flavor is joining the permanent lineup. Food & Wine's Editorial Guidelines Published on April 20, 2022 Share Tweet Pin Email Pop-Tarts come in a lot of flavors. In 2019, when we ranked all the flavors we could find, we grabbed 21 boxes in total. And if you head to the brand's website right now, 32 different varieties are listed. (You can rate them there, too, which was news to me!) With that many options, in an era when limited-edition offerings are all the rage, not all flavors will last forever. But sometimes, even Pop-Tarts can admit they may have been a bit hasty when pulling a flavor from store shelves. And this week, the toaster pastry brand has decided that Frosted Grape Pop-Tarts should be returned to their full-time status. Courtesy of Pop-Tarts Included as one of Pop-Tarts' original Frosted flavors in 1967, Frosted Grape Pop-Tarts — which beyond their grape jelly-flavored filling and white icing also feature purple "crunch-lets" for a bit of extra pop — have been an on-again, off-again flavor for the brand. They were last brought back as a limited-time offering in 2014 and then were completely discontinued in 2017. However, Pop-Tarts believes the variety hit its heyday in the '90s —a nd in recent years, that's apparently helped turn Frosted Grape into a nostalgic favorite. Courtesy of Pop-Tarts "At Pop-Tarts, we know what our fans want. Frosted Grape has been among the top flavors fans have been asking us to bring back," Heidi Ray, senior director of marketing for portable wholesome snacks at Pop-Tarts maker Kellogg, explained. "So, we could not be more stoked to finally bring back this Pop-Tarts G.O.A.T. — Grape-ist Of All Time." Starting this month, Frosted Grape Pop-Tarts are rolling out in Walmart stores before hitting retailers nationwide in May with a suggested retail price of $3.19. And though history may have primed you to stock up on boxes whenever this flavor arrives on shelves, this time, the brand promises that Frost Grape is truly a permanent flavor. Was this page helpful?
