Gordon Ramsay Only Chef on Forbes’ Highest-Paid Celebrities List 2016
This week, Forbes released its list of the World’s Highest-Paid Celebrities of 2016, and unfortunately for all those in the get-rich-quick restaurant world (cough), only one celebrity chef made the top 100: Gordon Ramsay.
Ramsay, who reportedly hauled in $54 million in the past year, landed at #34 on the list. And though his earnings paled in comparison to top-earner Taylor Swift (who raked in a ridiculous $170 – making her the only individual to take in nine figures), the British chef was still in good company, tying with – of all people – Beyoncé. He can also say he out-earned Kim Kardashian (who landed the #42 spot with $51 million in income) which should really be the goal of any celebrity worth their salt.
“No celebrity chef has ever earned more than Gordon Ramsay,” Forbes writes. “His big payday comes from his starring role on three hit Fox shows, ‘Hell's Kitchen,’ ‘MasterChef’ and ‘MasterChef Junior.’ Those network shows are the perfect advertising for his food empire, 30 restaurants strong (with 6 Michelin stars) and ever growing.”
If there’s any downside for Ramsay, it’s that his spot on the Forbes list has actually dropped from 2015, where he finished tied for 21st by bringing in $60 million alongside Sean “Diddy” Combs and Ryan Seacrest. If it’s any consolation, though Diddy pretty much held his spot – obviously… we’re talking about Diddy here! – Ryan Seacrest plummeted off the list entirely. Sounds like there’s at least one person on Earth lamenting the end of American Idol.
