If you grew up in Massachusetts like I did, you will probably alway have a soft spot (even if it's kept under wraps) for Dunkin' Donuts coffee. No, it might not be your favorite or even something you're willing to defend, but there's a time and a place for it in your heart forever. You know that a "regular coffee" comes with milk and sugar, whether you drink it that way or not. And you also know that iced coffee from DD is a perfectly acceptable beverage to consume all-year-round, especially in a blizzard. Oh, and it's Dunkie's to you.

For all you Dunkie's fans (loud and quiet alike), this one's for you. Soon, you'll be able to get your DD coffee fix in another icey version: Baskin Robins in debuting Dunkin' Donuts-inspired coffee ice cream.

A press release announced yesterday that this spring and summer, thousands of grocery stores across the country will sell 14 ounce packages of the following flavors:

  • Dunkin' Donuts Coffee
  • Dunkin' Donuts French Vanilla Coffee
  • Dunkin' Donuts Coffee Chocolate Chip

No matter how you feel about DD's coffee, just imagine the affogato possibilities.

Expect to see the ice cream in grocery stores like Albertsons, Publix, Ralphs, Safeway, ShopRite and more. You won't, however, be able to find them at Baskin Robbins scoop shops.

Starbucks has its own branded coffee ice cream, of course, so you can add this to the list of the ways the two coffee behemoths continue to compete. On the local level, NYC's Oddfellow's just opened a new store called Coffee and Cream, which will serve everything from affogatos to milkshakes and soft serve. For coffee lovers everywhere, this summer is shaping up to be a good one.
