Dolly Parton has made plenty of food headlines in the past month: Her Jeni's Splendid Ice Cream flavor is returning after a year hiatus (along with an exclusive new song), and she teamed up with Duncan Hines on a new line of cake mixes and frostings.

Often, these kinds of product releases come with media blitzes where the celebrity involved will sit down with the press to answer the same old questions. But hats off to one intrepid journalist who had a moment to chat with Dolly Parton and steered the conversation directly towards Taco Bell.

"I also heard you're a huge Taco Bell fan," Anneta Konstantinides, a senior reporter at Insider, pivoted, beginning one of the better 48 seconds in interview history.

Asked about her favorite order, Parton responded, "I like soft-shell tacos. I like the others, but they fall apart so bad, especially if you're riding around," hinting at how, as a musician, she spends a lot of time on the road. "So I always get a Taco Supreme, with the sour cream and all that, in the soft shell. I love that. And I get an order of rice and beans. And I get mild sauce. I don't like to get it too hot and ruin everything."

Then, as if she was told how to get attention on the internet, with no additional prompting, Parton touched on Taco Bell's biggest hot-button issue: the Mexican Pizza. "They used to make a little — I think they still do it; one of the restaurants — they make a little Mexican pizza," Parton said, "which is also good. I love that."

Taco Bell actually announced they were axing the Mexican Pizza in September 2020, angering the menu item's fans and causing consternation ever since. A "Save the Mexican Pizza" petition has over 170,000 signatures.

Konstantinides informed the country music legend of this injustice and asked her whether she thought Taco Bell should bring it back. "I think they should," Parton said with a smile. She then repeated herself, hammering the point home. "I think they should."

Dolly Parton — and the rest of us — may not have to wait too long to get our wish. In recent months, rumors have been swirling about the pizza's potential comeback. The Taco Bell fan site Living Mas even suggests they've been provided with evidence that the menu item will return at some point between April and July of this year.

Hurry up, Taco Bell! Dolly's waiting!
