America is more polarized today than ever before. I’m not talking about Hillary versus The Donald. I’m talking about the health conscious versus the frankenfood fanatics. The former is all superfood, while the latter have turned Burger King’s deep-fried food mashup Mac n’ Cheetos into an unlikely phenomenon. And now Taco Bell has announced they want part of that Cheetos fast food action.

Of course, Taco Bell is no stranger to trying to food gimmick its way to the top. From its humble beginnings as a purveyor tacos and burritos, the Tex-Mex chain now serves up a menu that, outside of the setting of a Taco Bell, wouldn’t even make sense. Seriously, if it weren’t for Taco Bell, phrases like Doritos Cheesy Gordita Crunch, Beefy Nacho Griller and BLT Crunchwrap Slider would read like some poor English translation printed on a Japanese T-shirt.

A key component to Taco Bell’s absurdity has long been the brand’s relationship with Frito-Lay. Whether it be making taco shells out of Doritos or shoving in Fritos to add crunch to its Crunchwrap, Frito-Lay product tie-ins have been the cornerstone of many of Taco Bell’s most eye roll-worthy creations.

To the Bell, Burger King’s Mac n’ Cheetos must have been a shot across the bow. So we probably shouldn’t be surprised that the chain has announced it will be adding Frito-Lay’s Cheetos to its own repertoire in the form of a Cheetos Burrito.

Since, by Taco Bell standards, a “Cheetos Burrito” could literally be anything, let’s clarify: According to Foodbeast, “The beefy new burritos are stuffed with seasoned meat, buttery rice, a cheese sauce and everyone's favorite puffy cheese snack.” Though Taco Bell has offered somewhat similar Cheetos-stuffed items before in Canada, it will reportedly be the first time the snacks have migrated to American menus.

This latest oddly appealing-sounding abomination is set to start rolling out in August. If for some reason it doesn’t do well, the good news is that Cheetos-stuffed items seem to be thriving at Taco Bell Canada, so they’ll be waiting for us up north when we all move there after the election in November.
