BTS and McDonald's Drop Merch Line for K-Pop and Fast Food Fans Alike

The highly anticipated BTS Meal also debuts at McDonald's restaurants today.

Last month, when McDonald's announced that Korean pop act BTS would be following in the footsteps of Travis Scott and J Balvin as the latest artist to receive a signature meal, the partnership had literal global implications: Launching today in the U.S., the BTS Meal will begin "touring" to nearly 50 countries around the world. It's the kind of marketing power only a group that's had albums top the charts from America to Australia and seemingly every country in between can command.

But though BTS will inevitably help McDonald's move more McNuggets (the BTS Meal headliner is a 10-piece Chicken McNuggets with Sweet Chili and Cajun dipping sauces), diehard fans may be more excited about an announcement MickeyD's made this morning: For those interested in a longer keepsake from this collaboration, BTS and McDonald's will also be launching a merch line tonight at 7 p.m. ET exclusively on the Weverse Shop app.

This merch collaboration takes the BTS Meal and spins that imagery on products like t-shirts, hoodies, bags, socks, flip-flops, beach towels, umbrellas, and even a purple bathrobe. "Whether it's the McDonald's fry box logo with seven fries for each BTS member, or the marriage of BTS purple with McDonald's red and gold, these designs are the perfect representation of an iconic partnership between two fan-favorite brands," McDonald's wrote in the announcement.

"Seeing the passion and anticipation from our fans worldwide since we announced the BTS Meal has been incredible," Morgan Flatley, chief marketing and digital customer experience officer for McDonald's USA, stated. "And the best part is, we are just getting started. We are preparing to give customers even more ways to experience this collaboration in the coming weeks – through a merch drop and exclusive digital content that will provide a behind-the-scenes look at BTS."

Elaborating that second promise, McDonald's explains that, also starting today and continuing over the next four weeks, BTS fans will be able to find never-before-seen digital content featuring the band, exclusively on the McDonald's app in the U.S.

And speaking of apps, if you want to score the BTS x McD merch, beyond setting your alarm for 7 p.m., the burger chain also says that you'll need to have downloaded and logged into the Weverse Shop app before making any purchases. So if you're already dreaming of a purple bathrobe, you should probably make an account now.
