Oreo to Release Two New Flavors Because Everything Isn’t an Oreo Flavor Yet
It’s been over three months since I last wrote about a new Oreo flavor and I found myself beginning to worry. Was Oreo going out of business? And if so, what would happen to the team of dart throwing monkeys that determines new Oreo flavors? Clearly they could never handle it out in the wild.
Well, good news: Oreo isn’t going anywhere. The brand that has reinvented itself for a new generation by releasing as many new varieties as possible – including two already in 2016: Cinnamon Bun and Filled Cupcake – must have simply been saving up for the summer, because now comes word that two more new flavors are set to hit store shelves next month.
A limited edition Blueberry Pie Oreo, featuring blueberry crème shoved between two graham-flavored cookies, is slated to arrive exclusively at Target on June 6. Not a Target fan? Another new variety is coming to grocery stores on June 1: Fruity Crisp. This cereal-inspired variety also starts with graham-flavored cookies, but then the otherwise normal crème filling is sprinkled with Fruity Pebble-esque “colorful rice crisps.”
Clearly, June is shaping up to be a very exciting month for Oreo fans. And what screams “summer” more than blueberry pie and fruity crisps? I guess the latter one is a bit of a stretch. They must be saving Salt Water Taffy Oreos for July. And, I don’t know, Beach Sand Oreos for August?
