Bill Nighy to Star in a New Movie Set in a Russian Restaurant in New York City
Nighy will play the opulent restaurant's owner.
Nighy will play the owner of an “opulent” Russian restaurant, alongside Caleb Landry Jones and Jay Baruchel. According to Variety, Jones stars as a young man seeking work (presumably at the restaurant) while Baruchel will play a lawyer with “high ethics but low self-esteem.”
The film will also feature Andrea Riseborough, Tahar Rahim, and Zoe Kazan. Rahim plays an ex-con who manages the restaurant. Kazan plays a woman avoiding her abusive cop husband, while Riseborough’s character is an ER nurse who founded a therapy group called “Forgiveness.” There’s no word yet on how these characters are connected to the restaurant but chances are, they may all converge on the tea room, perhaps as guests.
Nordisk Film first reported on the news, describing the movie as a “comedy/drama,” about “homelessness and tolerance.” The film will tell the story of “four people in New York City through the worst crises of their lives, the year they gradually become each other’s closest allies and forever change each other’s lives through compassion, kindness, and love.”
Nighy most recently collaborated with film’s director, Lone Scherfig, on the World War II film Their Finest.
Will Bill Nighy adopt a fake Russian accent (he’s British) for the part? You'll just have to keep an eye out for the trailer if you want to find out.
