Applebee's March Drink Special Is an Absolut Vodka Lemonade (But It'll Cost You Double)
The chain's latest cheap cocktail promotion doubles the price to $2.
You won't often find name-brand booze being served up in well drink special at your local bar, but Applebee's isn't skimping with it's latest low-cost cocktail offering: Absolut Vodka lemonades for just $2. Starting today, customers can order up the slightly-more-premium beverage all day at participating Applebee's locations nationwide, as the restaurant brand hopes to help you "watch winter fade away," according to a statement. The drink is only described as being "made with premium vodka and mixed with refreshing lemonade."
Of course, the two-dollar price tag is double that of Applebee's past drink specials, which have famously been served up for just $1. That's right, if you're on a tight budget or just like things that cost a buck, Applebee's has been the place to be lately. The international chain of neighborhood bars and grills devised a hard-to-pass-up promotion last October with the introduction of Dollaritas—yes, that would be one-dollar margaritas. With an assumedly successful run, Applebee's announced it would be coming back with more $1 drink promotions.
So far that has included December's Dollar L.I.T., a budget-friendly Long Island iced tea featuring a mix of vodka, rum, gin, tequila, triple sec, sweet and sour mix, and a splash of cola. Then in February of this year, Applebee's rolled out the Dollarmama, its take on the Bahama Mama, which was comprised of pineapple, lime and orange juices with hints of coconut and cherry.
While a $2 drink special is pretty hard to pass up, it will be interesting to see if the 100% markup from past promotions turns any thirsty fans away or if the Absolut name is enough to convince customers that the higher cost is a value-added upgrade.
