Beyond Prime Day discounts (coming soon!) the Amazon Prime subscription service offers a wide range of perks. Yes, sometimes a benefit falls by the wayside, like the loss of free delivery from Whole Foods, which recently even led to a lawsuit. But as Prime membership has ticked up in price over the years, Amazon is regularly looking to add new benefits to draw in new customers and keep existing ones around.

Today, Amazon has just announced its latest round of new Prime benefits, and fans of food delivery services may want to take note: The online shopping giant has just added a free year of Grubhub+.

Much like Amazon Prime itself, Grubhub+ is a monthly subscription service that removes delivery fees on orders of $12, and comes with a few other benefits, too, like exclusive free food and discount offers. When purchased through Grubhub, this "plus" service is $9.99 per month, but starting today, Prime members will get a year of the service free as part of their Prime membership — though they do have to sign up to add the deal by going to amazon.com/grubhub.

Amazon shuttered its own online restaurant delivery platform back in June 2019, admitting that, no, Amazon can't succeed at delivering literally everything you need. But by teaming up with Grubhub, Amazon now boasts, "Members can use this new perk in more than 4,000 cities with hundreds of thousands of restaurants across the country when ordering on Grubhub." And the partnership could prove to have deeper ties: CNBC reports that, as part of the agreement, Amazon has the option to acquire a two-percent stake in Grubhub with a potential increase to 15 percent based on performance targets.

"There's never been a better time to take advantage of all the membership has to offer," Jamil Ghani, vice president of Amazon Prime, stated. "Prime already delivers great value for members. These new exclusive offers and experiences show how a single Prime membership unlocks a whole world of potential."Speaking of other offers, the announcement stated that Prime members will also get exclusive content for the forthcoming Prime Video show The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, discounts tied to the launch of Amazon's upcoming Thursday Night Football coverage, and exclusive experiences at the upcoming Ultimate Crown streamers vs. gamers battle featuring MrBeast and Ninja.
