This year and beyond, my goal is to cut back on food waste and extraneous spending. This means getting the most out of everything I'm buying, including vegetables and herbs. The LEVO, an inventive kitchen tool that has gained popularity for simplifying cooking with cannabis, is my new favorite way to maximize all of my produce.

The LEVO devices streamline the process of using herbs, flowers, spices, or fruit to make infused butters and oils (or even honey, milk, glycerin, and beeswax.) Once you make your herbal infusion, the possibilities are endless—you can whip up anything from baked goods to candies flavored with your fresh ingredient of choice.

LEVO's marketing lets you know their devices are intentionally 420-friendly. For many, the main purpose of their machines is to aid in cooking with cannabis, by making cannabutter or oil easily, safely, and efficiently. The LEVO II is an upgrade from the original model, offering WiFi connectivity and an app so you can monitor your infusions. The device has three settings, allowing you to dry, activate, and infuse your botanical ingredients. For fresh herbs, it's considered best to dry them first before infusing into butter, oil, or your medium of choice. When working with cannabis, the activate setting is for decarboxylation, which is essential for converting the plant's compounds into effective THC before infusing it as your next step.

The LEVO website features plenty of online recipes, plus cookbooks dedicated to edibles. Even a cursory YouTube search will bring up a variety of cannabis home chefs eagerly demonstrating their love of the LEVO devices. Beyond cannabis, the product is useful for anyone who wants to make the most out of their rosemary, oregano, thyme, sage, tarragon, or lavender. So far, it's been such a fun addition to my kitchen: I feel so sophisticated spending my Saturday afternoons making rosemary-infused butter for a simple roast chicken and potato dinner.

Next, I plan to use my LEVO II to make garlic-infused olive oil, bouquet garni butter, and salad dressing from citrus oil. And when it's gifting time, I'll be whipping up bottles of spicy chili pepper olive oil for my friends and family. Right now you can get 20% off with code LEVOGREEN until tomorrow (4/20).
