The annual shopping event is filled with millions of deals on everything from tech and beauty to home and (our favorite) kitchen items, making it an excellent time to upgrade your cookware or treat yourself to a luxe appliance. Today, Amazon announced that this year's sale will take place on July 12 and July 13 — here's everything you need to know about Amazon Prime Day 2022. What is Amazon Prime Day? Amazon Prime Day started off as an anniversary celebration back in 2015. Now, it's the company's biggest shopping event of the year, with 2021's sale offering two million discounts over two full days. During Prime Day, Amazon slashes prices in nearly every product category, from apparel to appliances, giving its Prime subscribers in more than 20 countries the chance to score exclusive markdowns. Keep in mind, many Prime Day deals are only available to Prime subscribers, so make sure your membership is up to date beforehand. How do I become an Amazon Prime member? Amazon Prime is a premium subscription service that costs just under $15 per month, or $139 if you sign up for a year. Members get free two-day shipping on millions of items (and some ZIP codes are even eligible for same-day delivery) and access to Amazon Prime Video and Amazon Music. Plus, if you're a student there are exclusive membership discounts, such as a six-month free trial, and a monthly fee of only $8 afterward. If you're someone who frequently shops on Amazon, then a Prime subscription is a great investment. Not ready to commit? You can always sign up for a 30-day free trial to take part in Prime Day. When does Amazon Prime Day start? Amazon Prime Day is a marathon, not a sprint. Discounts begin as early as 3 a.m. EST and end at midnight EST. Keep in mind there are several types of deals, with some only lasting as little as an hour or until items sell out, while others run all day. You can find all of Amazon's Prime Day deals here, but make sure to check every couple of hours to grab the items on your list. It's important to keep in mind that each day offers different deals, so you may have to plan your buys accordingly. What are the best deals to shop on Amazon Prime Day? From small appliances and cookware to organization tools and outdoor entertaining essentials — we've got our eye on a handful of great deals ahead of Prime Day. While the official start date is still a month away, we've already searched the site for the best deals so you don't have to.
