F&W's Gail Simmons, a Top Chef star, says she's "very intimate" with this cone at Manhattan's Big Gay Ice Cream; she's even gone behind the counter to learn how to make it. Here's what she saw.
First they put dulce de leche and a little salt in a wafer cone and fill it with vanilla soft serve—such a nostalgic flavor for all of us.

Then they use squeeze bottles to add stripes and injections of dulce de leche.

Using a fancy electric grinder that lights up, they sprinkle on a little more salt. The salty-sweet balance is so awesome.
