Modern travelers have become reliant on user-curated ratings from sites like Yelp and Trip Advisor to find points of interest. And sure, those sites are helpful for navigating a city but they can create unintentional blinders. While you're making a bee-line to Kat657's favorite epic ramen place, you may walk right by an incredible bookstore with a rare copy of Franny and Zooey you have been trying to track down.
The first app from beverage brand Sanpellegrino will get you to make that extra stop. Delightways is an interactive guide that will help travelers rediscover the joy of wandering. Through detailed mapping of 10 major cities, users can pin drop their current location and discover hidden gems on a guided route. Sanpellegrino paired up with Foursquare and local influencers to curate lists of local spots and create a guided route to help travelers truly discover cities. Each path offers places to grab a bite, a cocktail, great stores to shop at and points of interest off the beaten path. If you want to do a food tour of Austin you can load the local lists and edit to only include dining options. Currently the app includes New York, Chicago, San Francisco, Austin, DC, LA, Miami, Seattle, Boston and Atlanta with more cities coming soon.
And to help encourage app users to explore cities even more they are offering free bike share weekends in NYC, Chicago and San Francisco throughout the summer.
