Catastrophic fires have been engulfing parts of Canada, forcing more than 80,000 residents of Fort McMurray to evacuate last week. To help ease the pain of separating from the things they love, two Canadian airlines allowed evacuees to bring their pets on board.
WestJet and Canadian North lifted their strict rules when it comes to pet travel and allowed passengers to bring their pets on board in the main cabin without a carrier. “It’s definitely unusual to carry pets in the cabin, but due to the unusual circumstances we were able to bend the rules to accommodate these animals,” a Canadian North spokesperson told HuffPost Canada.
As you can imagine, this exception made for some pretty amazing photos as one flight last Thursday hosted 19 dogs, including a Great Dane, five cats, and two turtles. Check it out:
