North-Woods summer camp meets Los Angeles cool at The Cabin at Coachella
The Houston Brothers are LA’s masters of the theme bar. From a classy Cuban speakeasy at La Descarga to a barcade ‘80s throwback at Breakroom 86, their bars aim to offer not just solid cocktails, but an appropriate ambience to go with them. And at Coachella this year the brothers are taking a decidedly more rustic feel with their woodsy pop-up The Cabin.
In a pine-shielded oasis hidden from the blistering desert sun of Coachella sits The Cabin.
With The Cabin the Houston’s bring their trademark combination of deep attention to detail and irreverence to Coachella. A mountain lodge cum-bar cum-festival relaxation focal point.
The menu mirrors signs from a national park.
The interior is reminiscent of an Alpine lodge or a camp bunk. A respite of cool mountain charm on the hot valley floor.
Kitschy? Sure. But there is also a focus on outstanding cocktails at the Cabin. The Peach Smash featured here is just the right amount of Rye forward, slightly sweet, and completely refreshing.
Enjoy your drinks out of the sun on the river stone fireplace, hand built by the Brothers themselves (except for the log-fire flatscreen).
The most refreshing snow cone at or below sea level (the Coachella Valley sits 68ft below sea level on average for those keeping track.)
The (Better) Sweets
You can make those snow cones alcoholic of course.
Squirt gun armed bartenders for a quick cool off.
The Cabin will be open both weekends of Coachella and also at this year's Stagecoach festival. Follow The Cabin and the Houston Brothers at instagram.com/houstonhospitality.
