Not even scalding hot molten metal can ruin your Easter fun. At least according to the YouTube channel Let’s Melt It.
In honor of the upcoming holiday, a YouTube experimenter decided to pour molten aluminum over a chocolate Easter bunny and film the results. Surprisingly, the well-heated liquid metal didn’t even put a dent in the candy rabbit.
Unfortunately, as is the case with many of these kinds of YouTube videos, the one-minute clip is more about its showmanship than actually explaining any of the science. Why exactly did aluminum do such a crappy job of melting the Easter candy? A few of the commenters had some interesting speculations: One blamed the chocolate’s extra ingredients; another claimed that aluminum isn’t great for holding heat.
But the most compelling answer is the commenter who wrote, “worst pouring of aluminium ever.” Exactly. Most of the aluminum just goes trickling down the side. I’d like to see this again but with the whole bunny getting slowly submerged in a pool of melted metal. If it killed the T-1000 in Terminator 2, I’m guessing a chocolate bunny wouldn’t stand a chance.
