In Hollywood, if something works, you make a sequel. Granted, YouTube doesn’t quite have the glitz and glamor of Hollywood, but filmmaker Scott David Winn’s 2012 video “Fruit Ninja in Real Life to Dubstep!” certainly had that sort of feel and cinematographically stunning. And the nearly 30 million views it’s racked up is nothing to shake an action-packed stick (or a sword) at.
So over three years later, Winn is back with “Fruit Ninja in Real Life: Part II” – now featuring double the ninjas (two!) but the same amount of effect-enhanced footage featuring fruit getting sliced to the tune of an epic electronic music soundtrack. Plus this time around one of the swords is on fire!
Sure, in 2016, the whole Fruit Ninja craze has pretty much passed, meaning this sequel probably won’t generate as much excitement as the original did back when everyone was constantly killing time by slashing fruit on their phones. But hey, the Angry Birds craze isn’t where it used to be either and that movie doesn’t come out for three more weeks, so by that standard, Winn is way ahead of the curve.
