It’s starting to feel like fall outside but that’s not stopping our ice cream addiction. And recently opened Taiyaki NYC should be on the list of places you go to get your own ice cream fix. Taiyaki itself are a Japanese fish-shaped cakes made from a batter similar to waffles. The batter is poured into one side of a cast iron mold while a filling – in this case red bean paste or custard – is piped on the other side. The result is a warm, cakey cone that is then filled with matcha, vanilla, black sesame or chocolate soft serve. It’s also guaranteed to be blow up your social media feeds.
