Nothing goes together like beer and pizza – at least when it comes to a laid back dinner – so Pizza Hut in the United Kingdom has decided to try out beer in their pizza. Granted, they didn’t invent the idea, but they do claim to be the first chain in the UK to test out a beer-infused pizza dough – and if it does well, they already are planning on taking it nationwide across the pond.

“We know that craft beers are really popular right now and we’re celebrating this not just by adding craft beers to our menus, but also by adding this to our pizza dough,” Director of HR and Marketing Kath Austin told the Mirror. That said, the site didn’t reveal exactly which craft beer has the honors of being poured into pizza dough; hopefully it’s not something too good, otherwise that seems like it could be a bit of a waste.

Pizza Hut will be testing out the new pies this Friday, giving them away for free while supplies last at their flagship UK location at Finchley Lido, a shopping complex outside of London. “It took our team many hours to perfect the recipes and flavor combinations,” explained Austin. I realize that “many hours” is just a figure of speech, but I feel like when it comes to launching a new product, many months or years would inspire a bit more confidence.

Still, I tend to be of the mindset that there’s nothing beer can’t improve. If you’re in North Finchley on Friday, you can go see whether that even applies to Pizza Hut pizza.
